Campus Transition Plan for Military-Connected Students

At Granbury Middle School, we recognize that military-connected students may enroll at any point during the school year and often arrive following a recent move. Our campus has developed a transition plan designed to ensure that every new student feels welcomed, supported, and connected from the moment they enroll. As part of the Granbury Independent School District, we are committed to providing a smooth academic and social transition for all incoming students, with intentional support for military families.

Enrollment and Initial Welcome

When a military-connected student enrolls at Granbury Middle School:
-The campus registrar and counseling team ensure prompt enrollment and course placement
-Records are reviewed as quickly as possible to support appropriate class scheduling
-Families are provided with campus information, including schedules, maps, and procedures
-Students receive a designated point of contact to assist with questions during the transition

Student Orientation and Campus Introduction

New military-connected students are introduced to the school environment through a welcome process that includes:
-A campus tour highlighting key locations (classrooms, cafeteria, library, etc.)
-Introduction to counseling staff and key campus personnel
-Review of daily procedures, expectations, and school routines
-Assistance in navigating schedules and class locations Opportunity to ask questions in a supportive setting

When possible, students are paired with a peer or student ambassador to help them become familiar with campus life.

Building Connection and Belonging

Granbury Middle School intentionally supports student connection and inclusion by:
-Encouraging participation in extracurricular activities such as athletics, fine arts, and clubs
-Promoting positive peer relationships through team-building and classroom activities
-Ensuring students are introduced to caring adults on campus who monitor progress and provide support
-Checking in with new students during their first weeks to monitor their adjustment

We believe that early connection to peers and staff is essential for a successful transition.

Academic and Social Support During Transition

To support academic continuity and student success, the campus provides:
